Table Scraps: HOWL-een!

Let sleeping dogs lie.

The past couple weeks have been a flurry of work projects for me, and MPCC typically gets the shaft when the paying gigs take precedence. Committing to a much more regular schedule from here on out.

So how is everybody? My two dogs have gotten quite a bit of pep in their step as the temps here in Seattle drop. We have been fluctuating from high-40s to mid-50s, and I am beyond stoked to be in spooky season, complete with loads of horror movies, soups and oven-baked things, and… HALLOWEEN.

Are you dressing your pets up? Let me know some good costumes – I was thinking Kitty & Coconut could be Hall & Oates, but … how on earth am I gonna pull that off!? Option #2: Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

And now, onto “I found this stuff around the net:”

Rocco & Roxie have this fantastic fall checklist:

  1. ️ Make a trip to the vet & start preventative care if needed

  2. ️ Groom your best friend for the cooler weather

  3. ️ Focus on training to cope changing family routines

  4. ️ Prep for more indoor play

  5. ️ Freshen up those dog tags & collars

As well as the ASPCA’s Autumn Safety Tips (beware rodenticides, antifreeze, school supplies, mushrooms, and wildlife).

This poor pup got a bad rap, but let’s be honest – this photo is bananas dark. We still love you, Junebug!

I was checking out Kirsten Dunst’s interior designer’s website (yes, that is a true sentence I’m saying) and caught this quote I loved: "Cats are connoisseurs of comfort” by James Herriot. Naturally I needed to find out who he was, which he’s fascinating – and totally a famous veterinarian from the UK! How did I not know about him?

It’s not every day that The New York Times has a big feature on a dog breed, so this was a pretty special read: How Old is the Maltese Dog Breed? - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

“They’re Coming to Take Me Away Ha-haaa” always reminds me of Halloween, but did you know it’s about a dog? (Songfacts explanation here)

WHO’S GONNA WIN THE 2021 GOOD DOG PHOTO CONTEST!? Looks like results come out in the Dec/Jan issue of Garden & Gun.

I’ve never loved a tent before…. Until now. Tiny Tent is 12-inches tall, and it “comfortably sleeps 0.” I’m pretty sure a pet could comfortably pass out in there, right?

Until next time!

MPCC xx
