Table Scraps: Sunday Blues
I’ve had a hard time to put down in words how meaningful this week has been; thinking that MPCC probably seems frivolous in times like these. I’m so proud to see the protestors across every city, did you happen to see Orlando -- seriously, try watching this and not getting chills! I’m excited to see the Black Surfing Association (EC) paddle out for George Floyd -- watch this and feel all those powerful feelings. And I’m blown away that BTS donated $1m to Black Lives Matter -- and fans are gonna match it!
So even while I write those moments down, where does it fit into MPCC? So I decided that while I’ll be profiling many different businesses and stories over the lifetime of this site, I’m really committed to amplifying stories that aren’t the typical white-dude-entrepreneur-nepotism-trust-funder stuff. I want to focus on diverse voices, and I’ll be working harder at that in the future, and always. Please holler at me: monpetitchewchew@gmail.com.
So it’s already Sunday! How quickly another week has flown by, especially when you’re still quarantined and unemployed. I have plugged this a couple times, but it bears repeating: if you have the means, please donate to the Humane Society’s relief fund, and if you need help, apply for one of their emergency grants. Keeping pets with their people is so important for a multitude of reasons, and now there are many more that might need help due to job loss, layoffs, and furloughs. If you’re thinking about adopting a dog right now, read this article from NPR first. And finally, here are the CDC’s notes and guidelines on having pets during COVID-19.
Stay safe, stay sane, standup for what’s right.
